Life List

I started reading a book in December called Creating Your Best Life-The Ultimate Life List Guide. It is similar to creating a Bucket List of things you want to do before you die. But it goes beyond that by creating lists that help make your life more joyful, proactive and accomplished.

One of the first "Homework" assignments in the book is to create your first 100 things you want to accomplish in your Life. I am up to 82 and I have already accomplished 9 of these Life List items. I completed 5 in one weekend.

1. Make a Gingerbread house
2. Go to a Major League baseball game
3. See the original Declaration of Independence
4. See the National Mall in Washington DC
5. Visit the Smithsonian in Washington DC (Only saw 2 of the museums but I have visited it.)
6. Visit Gettysburg
7. Visit Promontory Point
8. Roast a Hot Dog over an open fire
9. Get my Passport and schedule a vacation out of the United States

It has been fun creating the list and of course it will be fun completing my Life List items.

Ten Minutes

I am learning the Art of Meditation. Today I had 10 minutes left on my lunch break so I decided to just sit and meditate in my car before going back in the building. The morning had been very hectic and noisy so I was glad to have some quiet time. I set my alarm on my cell phone for 10 minutes and closed my eyes. I had a hard time clearing my mind of work items but soon my mind was clear and I just relaxed. It was wonderful. However, I started to get antsy and since it felt like 10 minutes had passed I wondered if my cell alarm had been set wrong. I opened my eyes to check and was shocked to see that only 3 minutes had passed. Time apparently slows down when you are not busy.

Find My Zen in 2010

This is my theme for the year. Each year I like to come up with a theme for the year and yes it has to rhyme with the name of the year. It was hard coming up with a theme for 2010. There are not very many rhyming words for ten. My first thought was Let's Try Again in 201o. 2009 was a tough year so it would have worked. Then I came up with Zen. Since one of my resolutions is to find more peace and more energy this year I thought it fit quite well.

Sunshine On My Shoulders

Apparently that is what I need. I found out two days ago that my Vitamin D levels are extremely low. The prescription 50,000 IU of Vitamin D every other day and lots of sunshine. It is a sign that I spend too much time indoors. My cortisol levels are also extremely high. The prescription for this is less stress and more relaxation time. Hmm, I think I need to book a trip to a nice sunny beach somewhere. Anyone want to join me!

Too Many Changes

May as well change everything in my life all at once. I moved to a new apartment, a new office building and I received a promotion to Manager for my department all within a month. Although all of these changes were good I think it was a little too much for my system. I am starting to break down more and more when I get home at night. I come home and just crash. I am still trying to unpack at my apartment as well as at my new office. I hope things calm down soon.

Moving Day Again?

I just moved to my new apartment and now I am packing again. This time I am packing my office. We are moving to a new building. Another fast move. We found out two weeks ago. I am excited about this move. I will be 12 minutes from my apartment. No more freeway commuting. It is going to be a lot of work but it will be a good move for my company.
