Earth Wind and Fire

I have been learning new things about myself this past year. I have always known I was a Capricorn. My chinese numerology number is 9. My planet sign is Saturn. In the Color Code or People Code I am a blue with a strong secondary color of white. My palm reading said I am a born nurturer. My element is Earth.

What does all this tell me about myself?  Nothing new.

My Second Favorite State

Over the past couple years I have been able to spend a lot of time in California. It has become my second favorite state. I have even learned to drive the freeways. California really feels like my home away from home. I feel comfortable there. If it wasn't so expensive to live there and I wasn't such a scaredy cat about being away from my family I would probably move to California.
Just this summer I have been to California twice. Both times I attended an LDS Singles Conference. In May I went to the Huntington Beach Conference and this past weekend I attended the OCBC (Orange County Beach Cities) Conference.

It has been fun to attend these Singles Conferences. I have met a few new people. I have learned that I still suffer from social anxiety but it is not as bad as it used to be. I have tried to be brave and step out of my comfort zone. I actually went up and introduced myself to a few people at the second conference. I was proud of myself for being brave. I am having fun being in the social scene again. It helps that my dear friend Amy is Utah's Matchmaker and that I attend most of the social events with her. She has introduced me to several people at these conferences. It has been fun to attend these events with her. Her business partner is Utah's Dating Coach and I get to help them out at some of the events. I have also had a chance to sit back and listen to them at work and learn a few tips. One day I hope it will pay off and I will finally meet my future husband.

It's the Most Wonderful Week of the Year

I am so excited for this week. It is going to be a busy week but I am looking forward to it. It started out with a very fun family party. It was with the extended family on my mom's side. We had great food, fun games and karoake. I heard Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells about 20 times. I sang each twice with several of the young children just to help them out. Then I sang with some of the adults. We sang the longest version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas and the Nat King Cole version of The Christmas Song. Good times!

Tonight is my one night without an event so it is Christmas present wrapping night. I am glad I only have a few presents to wrap.

I love this time of year! Up next two nights of birthday celebrations, dinner and a movie and Christmas. I know I have something on Thursday too but I can't remember what it is at the moment. Whatever it is it will be fun.

Back in Time

I am living in the past right now. I found several of my old favorite TV shows on Netflix. Last week it was Charles in Charge and Kate and Allie. This week it's Gimme a Break. It has been fun watching these old shows. What were your favorite shows growing up?

Life List

I started reading a book in December called Creating Your Best Life-The Ultimate Life List Guide. It is similar to creating a Bucket List of things you want to do before you die. But it goes beyond that by creating lists that help make your life more joyful, proactive and accomplished.

One of the first "Homework" assignments in the book is to create your first 100 things you want to accomplish in your Life. I am up to 82 and I have already accomplished 9 of these Life List items. I completed 5 in one weekend.

1. Make a Gingerbread house
2. Go to a Major League baseball game
3. See the original Declaration of Independence
4. See the National Mall in Washington DC
5. Visit the Smithsonian in Washington DC (Only saw 2 of the museums but I have visited it.)
6. Visit Gettysburg
7. Visit Promontory Point
8. Roast a Hot Dog over an open fire
9. Get my Passport and schedule a vacation out of the United States

It has been fun creating the list and of course it will be fun completing my Life List items.

Ten Minutes

I am learning the Art of Meditation. Today I had 10 minutes left on my lunch break so I decided to just sit and meditate in my car before going back in the building. The morning had been very hectic and noisy so I was glad to have some quiet time. I set my alarm on my cell phone for 10 minutes and closed my eyes. I had a hard time clearing my mind of work items but soon my mind was clear and I just relaxed. It was wonderful. However, I started to get antsy and since it felt like 10 minutes had passed I wondered if my cell alarm had been set wrong. I opened my eyes to check and was shocked to see that only 3 minutes had passed. Time apparently slows down when you are not busy.
