Organizing Project - Week 1

The first month of organizing projects is going to be mainly clearing out excess and clutter.  I have a lot of this and in order to really organize I need to simplify and only organize items I actually need and use.

The project for week 1 was to toss unused healthcare items and expired medications and then re-organize the items I actually use and that are current.  Over the years I have experimented one to many times with different healthcare items such as skincare products, lotions, lip balms etc.  I just need to stick to the products I know work for me and that I like.  I know which shampoo and conditioner works best for my hair.  I know the skincare routine and products that work best for my skin and I just need to continue using those same products and get rid of everything else that is just sitting in my bathroom taking up space.

I decided to start with this project because I knew it would be an easy one for me and I would feel that sense of accomplishment when it was finished.

I went from a pile of products to just the basics.

Organizing Projects -Refocusing

Well I really blew it.  I had planned to blog about my organizing projects each week.  Life got busy and I just couldn't focus on one project at a time.  This is why right now my place is a bit of a mess.  I have these great ideas in my head of how I want to organize my place.  The only problem is that the place I picture is not where I currently live.  It is a dream of my future home that doesn't exist yet.  So I need to change my focus a little and organize the space where I currently live.  Now to make a plan which I am really good at and then to follow through with that plan and that is the part where I tend to fail.  Not this time!  Ha ha someone yell at me if I fail to post about an organizing project each week.

Organizing Moment of the Week

These posts are more for me than for anyone else.  I have 32 organizing projects I want to complete this year and I thought it would be fun to blog about the projects and if I remember, post before and after pictures.  I think it will keep me motivated to complete the projects if I have to post about them so here we go.

Last week my organizing task was my nightstand.  I chose a simple project to start off my Organization Projects.  My nightstand has become a catch all in my bedroom.  I had several books that I would start but never finish sitting on the small shelf and on top of the night stand.  It is where I charge my phone, my sports watch, my Fitbit and my iPod each night so there were cords dangling in every direction.  There was an alarm clock that I don’t use taking up space and magazines piling up all around.  When  you walk in my bedroom your eyes go straight to the night stand and it was a cluttered mess.  So I decided to tackle the mess and make it look pleasant.
I removed the alarm clock that I wasn't using and set up a charging station.  It helps maintain all of the cords for my devices.  I put only the books I am currently reading and using on the shelf.  The only part of the nightstand that was organized before was the drawer so I didn't have to change anything there.
