Training Recap – Week 21

I had a goal to finish 150 miles by the official start of summer.  I came really close at 143.25 miles.

There are 10 weeks until the Half Marathon and I am a nervous wreck.  I don’t know what the course is going to be like and I haven’t been training up to par.  I have been doing better than a lot of people think but I am just not a runner.  I enjoy walking and being outdoors when it is cool.  I know training would be so much easier in the morning when it is cooler but like I have mentioned I am not a morning person.  So I am training in the evening after work and it is not very cool in the evening.   I hate being hot and it is getting hotter every day.  I really worry about feeling overheated on race day.  If anyone knows any tricks to stay cool I would greatly appreciate them.  Right now I plan to have some peppermint oil which is a cooling oil and really light running clothes on for race day.

Peppermint oil is one of my new best friends. A friend of mine introduced it to me a year ago as a headache helper and we became fast friends right away. That cooling sensation can take the edge of a headache. Plus then I smell like Christmas. ;-)
